At Freedom in Christ Ministries we are attempting to change our lives to be more like Christ. To do this, it is necessary to know who Jesus Christ is. We believe Jesus Christ is the son of God. The virgin Mary gave birth to him by the work of the Holy Spirit. While on earth his primary ministry was to meet the needs of others and teach them about his Father and His Father's kingdom.
Spending time with people and performing miracles were the primary ways in which he met their needs and taught them. An important thing for us to realise is that he did not spend a majority of his time with other people who believed in him or his Father. He was constantly surrounded by people who needed to know about him and God. The Bible often tells of him eating with tax collectors, prostitutes, and other people who were not respected in his day.
Although they were not respected by others, Jesus respected them as people and cared for them. Many times those people then believed in him and turned their lives to him as their Saviour.
Jesus is able to be a Saviour because of his life, death, and resurrection to life again. Jesus lived a perfect life. He was tempted to do wrong, just like we are, but he never did. He was arrested under false charges and was sentenced to die. Even though he lived a perfect life, he willingly hung on a cross and died. Fortunately, that is not the end of the story. Three days later God raised him to life again. Jesus had been dead and buried but God brought him back to life. For forty days he stayed on earth and continued the education of those he had been teaching. After those forty days Jesus was taken to heaven to sit at the right hand of the throne of God. He is still there and is a mediator to the Father for us. He is also presently assisting us in our lives.
Because he lives we can have life and have it to the full. He has promised us his peace which will be with us in our times of difficulty and trouble. We are still going to have problems but Jesus gives us his peace to help us overcome them. John 14:23 tells us of another thing that Jesus does for us presently. It says, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him." If we love Jesus we will obey him, and he and his Father will live within us. We will receive the love of the Father and will always have He and Jesus present with us.
Though Jesus is in heaven now, he will not be forever. He is coming to earth again and when he comes he is going to establish a kingdom. He will be king for one thousand years and then will rid the earth of the devil, death, sickness, pain, and everything that is not perfect. At that time God Himself will dwell on earth with us forever. All of this is part of God's plan. John 3:16 tells us that God loves us so much that He gave His only son for us and whoever believes in him will live forever. Because of Jesus' perfect life, death on the cross, and resurrection to life again, we can live forever. If we believe in him and accept him as our Saviour, our sins will be taken away from us and we will have a part in his kingdom when he returns to earth.
